Highly selective schools are roughly schools ranked 20-50 in the country. They are some of the most selective schools in the country. If you are at this level of selectivity, that means that our team of college admissions experts think that you have a good chance to get into some schools in this group assuming you apply to several of them and keep up the same level until you graduate. Of course, no one knows for sure what schools you will get into (and don’t believe anyone who tells you they do) except the admissions officer reading your application. So, we always recommend students apply to several colleges at both lower levels and higher levels than the one they are tracking to (in addition to several in their tier).

Schools at this level of selectivity include

      University of Southern California
      Carnegie Mellon University
      University of Virginia
      Wake Forest University
      University of Michigan-Ann Arbor
      Tufts University
      University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill
      New York University
      University of California-Santa Barbara
      University of Rochester
      University of California-Irvine
      Brandeis University
      Georgia Institute of Technology
      University of Florida
      Boston College
      College of William and Mary
      University of California-Davis
      University of California-San Diego
      Case Western Reserve University
